I like that there's no script to life, no hard and fast rules. Just a process of figuring things out and experiencing all the good and bad feelings that come with it. Hold that thought, let's talk about one of those experiences.
I spent my Saturday on the beach, I attended the Plant, sip, and Paint event organized by my sister, Oluwaseyi Moejoh. It was the official launch of the OH-Wake magazine in Africa and a way to comemorate World Earth Day. It was insightful to hear different young climate activists share knowledge about their solutions and the work they do and I couldn't stop smiling through out the paint and plant session but my favourite part was after the program.
After the program, I shamelessly took off my shoes, folded my jeans, and went to play in the water with my new friend, Toke.
And I don’t regret it. The feeling was so surreal, I think the beach might just be one of my favorite places. The last time I went to the beach was when I was a child, and apart from faint memories of me riding a horse, I don't think I can recall what the experience was like.
But on Saturday I got to experience it all over again, I experienced the therapeutic feeling of your bare feet on white sand, the sweet calm feeling when the ocean water sweeps your feet, the scary feeling you get when the tide that's coming to the shore looks high so you run away and then turn back to realize it has relaxed or should I talk about the cool ocean breeze.
I enjoyed the peace that filled my heart by just staring at the endless ocean waves and I remember how Toke jokingly said, ‘staring at places like this you'll never run out of inspiration.’ I completely agree with her. It was a sweet Experience.
I like how even with all the stressful and hectic parts of life, we still have sweet experiences like this. And they're not far they're as close to you as time with friends, conversations with siblings, time out with God and quality chat with family.
Just a time when you're not trying to catch up on the infinite things happening in everybody else’s life on social media, a time when you're paying attention to how you feel and how the person you're spending time with feels too. It's beautiful.
I learned 2 very important things from my Saturday beach Experience;
Don't wear jeans to the beach if you want to play with water dragging your feet with wet jeans slopped with beach sand is not a pleasant experience.
Life doesn't have to be all hustle, school, stress, shege, and more shege. It can be beautiful too and you can make it beautiful ❤
Moving forward, I want to have more Intentional Experiences like this with my friends, family, loved ones, and myself.
I look forward to intentionally curating more experiences like this. It doesn't have to be expensive, it's the feelings that count. I hope you're inspired to create yours too? Tell me in the comments.
How was your week? Did anything different or dramatic happen? You can send me a mail and tell me all about it. I want to hear your sweet gist too. Have a productive week.
Stay intentional,
Abigail
